Take me to the TLDR Summary
I’d never really understood the purpose of probiotics and prebiotics. I knew they were linked to gut health, but wasn’t super sure if I would get any health benefits from taking probiotics or if this was just another health fad. After talking to a personal trainer and realizing that I was in fact dealing with some gut inflammation (here is a nifty article to help you figure out how you are doing with your gut health) I decided to give Seed a shot. My trainer at the gym had been using this product and raved about it so I figured I would try something that came from a trusted source.
For those that aren’t familiar with Seed, Seed is a subscription service for a daily synbiotic. A synbiotic includes both prebiotics and probiotics, here is a lot of good info on the product if you are intersted. I would describe Seed as the “Apple” of Gut Health products. They’ve done such a beautiful job crafting the experience and design. The whole process is seamless. You sign up and get a package of synbiotics shipped to your place every month. The product arrives in a beautiful container and also includes a sleek travel jar. Every time the product ships, it arrives in a compostable package (yay, Earth!). You are supposed to take 2 capsules of Seed everyday, preferably before eating your meals. I take mine first thing when I wake up in the morning. With regards to whether it works or not, it’s a little hard to say how effective it is to take synbiotics given that there are so many factors that can impact gut health day to day. What I have noticed however is that I have much more regular bowel movements (TMI, I know :P) when I do take my seed capsules. Also, they make it so easy to use this product that it takes very little effort to incorporate these capsules into my daily routine. Below is my review on how this product performs across 5 categories. Hopefully this will help you decide if Seed is the product for you.
Product Review
Performance: 4/5
I’ve been using Seed for over a year. I gave this product 4/5 just because it is a little hard to clearly identify the health benefits. However, the design, purchasing process, and customer service of the product is outstanding and has made it worth my while.
Easy to Use: 5/5
Seed makes it incredibly easy to purchase and use this product. They ship capsules directly to your home every month and you don’t have to lift a finger. If for some reason you need to pause a shipment you can just go into the website and ask them to hold-off for a month. They also have excellent instructions and explanations on how to use the product.
Health Benefits: 4/5
Again, I gave this a 4/5 just because there are so many factors that affect gut health so it is a little hard to see the direct correlation between taking these capsules and immediate improvements. That said, I feel great when I take this product. I feel less bloated and have far more regular bowel movements.
Aesthetics: 5/5
The product is beautiful. The container is a sleek with a fancy design. It comes with a little travel jar so that you can bring capsules with you on any trip. The packaging is eco- friendly and compostable. The materials are extremely high quality and the webpage has a very clean design.
Worth It?
If you feel like you are having issues with your gut health, then I would certainly recommend this product. Although the price is a bit higher than if you were to buy a store bought brand, they make it so easy to sign-up and use this product that I prefer paying a slightly higher price and getting the capsules shipped directly to my home than having to worry about making a trip to the store.
Full disclosure, I write these blogs in my spare time. I do not have an editor and am the only one who reviews the content. As a result, it is likely I’ll have the occasional typo or grammar mistake. If you find anything, feel free to let me know.
Lastly, I’ll admit food photography is not my forte. If you make the recipe and have a better picture, please share and I will happily post it and give you photo cred!
