Day of the Dead Healthy Chocolates

Day of the Dead Healthy Chocolates

Day of the dead (November 2nd) is one of my favorite Mexican traditions. I love the colors, the flowers, the importance given to family and remembering your loved ones, and the creativity and sense of humor with which people create the altars and the calaveritas (a version of haikus). Food plays a central role in these festivities, since you typically include some of the favorite dishes of your loved ones on the altar. Here is my tribute to the typical chocolate skulls (called calaveritas de chocolate) that are usually used to decorate the altars (see the picture below). Of course, these chocolates are a healthy version but they are spookily good! Plus, they are dairy-free and sugar-free so they are a great option for the little ones. I’m also sharing the link to the molds I used, these were adorable!
